New Search2Post phpBay Plugin by Allan Lewis.

Allan Lewis just released another amazing wordpress plugin special for phpBay Pro sites. The plugin is called Search2Post.

What does it do? Like the name suggests, this plugin creates a new page or post on your site every time an item is searched, and then displays search results from eBay to the person searching.

The really cool thing about this plugin is the content randomization engine. It allows all the new posts this plugin creates to have unique content.

I installed this plugin a few days ago on my Apple Laptop Shop phpBay Pro site and i already have over 15 new pages of content. And i didn’t do an once of work.

Here’s how i recommend using this plugin:

I created a post category called “Recent Searches.” Set that category to show in your sidebar. In the plugin options in the widgets section of your wordpress admin, set the plugin to create posts out of all new searches (not pages). Then set them to go into the “Recent Searches” category. Follow the other basic instructions from the manual and you’re done!

This plugin only works as a sidebar widget. It does not work for search boxes outside of the sidebar. No big deal. Remove your other search bar and add the widget. That’s what i did.

Note that this plugin costs $15. All of Allan’s other plugins are free, but he put some real serious time into this one. I think the price is very fair (maybe even underpriced). Everyone with a phpBay Pro website should own have this plugin.

Make sure you read the manual so you know the best way to use the content generator.

  1. I just picked up this plugin yesterday and it works really well. One thing I’m wondering - maybe there’s an obvious solution here - but is there a way to add the new auctions as posts, but not display the new posts on the front page of the blog, instead just add them into a category?

  2. Sam,
If you are using your hame page as a post, check out the method i posted about here:

    http://epntips.com/hacks-and-plugins/how-to-organize-posts-and-pages-on-your-phpbay-site/

if you have it set for the home page to only display posts from a certain category, which i talk about in that post, it should not be a problem if you make all your Search2Post plugins go to a category called “recent searches”

    hope that helps…

  3. Have you seen a boost in revenue since you’ve installed it? I’m going to give it a try for sure.

  4. @ James, I have def. noticed a boost in search engine traffic. Some the the pages created from the plugin have been indexed and are getting traffic. It’s hard to say if my earnings have gone up from the plugin. I’ve only had it up for a week. But I’m for sure getting more traffic.

  5. Hi Guys

Glad you are having fun with this plugin. I originally wrote it more as a proof-of-concept, but it rapidly grew into a pretty powerful little traffic generator.

As Ross mentioned in response to James’ question, its tough to put a number on the increase in sales, as I also don’t track to that level. However, my own sales have doubled month-on-month for the last 3 months. How much of this can be attributed to the plugin I don’t know. But what I do know for sure is that I have seen almost 20% increase in organic traffic so far, due entirely to the auto-created posts. I have many auto-posts on page 1 of Google now, in reasonably competitive markets

I created a category specifically to receive the new posts, and using the Wassup stats plugin its easy to see those pages being the entry pages to my sites.

Two tips that I would like to share that are working for me.

    1) I am carefully monitoring the new posts that are created. If the new post has no auction listings, or is unrelated to the niche, then I nuke it.

    2) I use the MaxblogPress Ping Optimiser plugin to replace WP’s default ping system. I set the “ping frequency” to 4 hours. This prevents ping floods if a visitor executes a bunch of searches quite rapidly, and also stops poking Google in the ribs every few minutes :-)

Have fun with it, and I wish you all good profits.

    Cheers

    Alan
