OK, so It’s been ages since my last post here. I’ve been pretty busy with a number of new ventures and unfortunately this blog has fallen off my radar. I hope to be posting more frequently in the future. But the reason for this post is to announce a phenomenal new EPN plugin for wordpress released by Robert @ zixby software (A.K.A “Radio” to you Wickedifre members).

First let me say that this is NOT the same thing as phpBay Pro. It is a totally different plugin with different features and can work great in tandem with phpBay Pro, or on it’s own.

Now, about Auction2Post…

Let’s start off by talking about what the plugin does on a high level: A2P creates Wordpress posts (content) out of eBay listings and automatically ads them to your site. Please click on your items and get directed to eBay (cookie planted!) and you get commission when they buy ANYTHING on eBay over the next 7 days (plus you get a bonus if they are new members).

Ok, up until there it sounds a little close to phpBay Pro, right? Well, like i said earlier, it’s not.

phpBay Pro is a plugin they dynamically puts auction listings into a static wordpress post. A2P CREATES new posts out of individual auctions from eBay. This means you get actual content being created on your blog in the form of a new post. You can import any aspect of the eBay item directly to your blog (headline, subhead, images, description, and a whole lot more). You can also create customized templates for all of your posts.

Another very cool aspect of A2P is the fact that you can automate it. That’s right, just tell A2P your search criteria and it will automatically create new posts every day (or hour, if you want). So you can set it and forget it.

A2P is an extremely powerful plugin great for making classified sites. But you can get creative and make all kinds of money-earning sites. I already have a few ideas up my sleeve. All and all this is an amazing plugin that can be used in addition with phpBay Pro OR as it’s own plugin.

As many of you have heard (or perhaps found out the hard way) eBay has been shutting down the accounts of many publishers. Not just shady people either. It’s one of the most ridiculous thing’s i have ever seen. I have not been shut down, but since they are not giving much info as to WHY they are shutting people down, i have no idea if and when it will happen.

Many people have been screwed. If you’re one of them, there may be a light at the end of the tunnel. I just talked to Wade(the phpBay developer) the other day and suggested that he start working on Amazon integration for phpBay. He told me he had actually started it the night before.

I don’t think the Amazon affiliate program is nearly as good as eBay, but there are people who do well with it. This is a great opportunity for people who already have sites with traffic. If you already use phpBay, then your set. But if you have BANS or a custom thing, you may want to switch to phpBay or get the API.

Anyone here been banned by eBay yet? Have you tried switching to pepperjam? did it work?

Today Wade released a new version of phpBay Pro for wordpress. The new version is 3.0.5. I just upgraded ad one of the cool new features is the “best match” sort option for your eBay results. This should help you get more relevant auction results on your phpBay sites.

If you are still on 3.0 and you missed the last few small updates, there are a few other minor updates. First, you no longer need iconotube. You can delete it from your root folder when you install 3.0.5.

Also, you no longer need to create a license file and upload it. You just need to enter your license key from your phpBay admin account.

Just saw that Wade released a new version of phpBay. The update includes compatibility with phpBay and PepperJam Network. Many people complained about a huge drop in commissions when they switched to EPN. I never noticed any issues and my comissions seemed to be on par with what they were before. But I will probably test it out with PepperJam just to compare.

The new version of phpBay fixes a few minor bugs that were in phpBay 3.0.1. Most notably, Wade fixed a bug with the dynamic CID feature introduced in version 3.0.1.

If you didn’t upgrade yet, head on over to the phpBay Store, log in, and download and install the new version.

Not that I had any doubts about phpBay 3.0 being amazing, but i finally took some time tonight to set it up on my phpBay sites and it’s pretty sweet. My favorite feature is the ability to show phpBay auctions in columns, not just rows. It works great for doing “featured auctions” on your home page. I did that on my golf ball site and fender amp site.

There are a bunch of other cool features that pgpBay Pro 3.0 offers, like adding an option for your users to sort auction results by location, price, time ending, and more.
