phpBay Pro 3.0 is pretty sweet

Not that I had any doubts about phpBay 3.0 being amazing, but i finally took some time tonight to set it up on my phpBay sites and it’s pretty sweet. My favorite feature is the ability to show phpBay auctions in columns, not just rows. It works great for doing “featured auctions” on your home page. I did that on my golf ball site and fender amp site.

There are a bunch of other cool features that pgpBay Pro 3.0 offers, like adding an option for your users to sort auction results by location, price, time ending, and more.

But instead of me telling about al the cool features, just watch the new demo video on phpBay.com

Anyone else using phpBay 3.0 yet? What are your thoughts?

  1. Installed and tested it yesterday on one of my sites. Im wondering how much the “seo friendly urls” will matter. Time will tell but i think this can help rankings.

Another thing i noticed was that the images are not clickable anymore.. i think that will be bad and we’ll lose clicks from that. Maybe there is some point to it, im not sure. I would rather see the whole object clickable than just the actual text.

  2. I just upgraded last week and I’m very impressed. I love the new column feature as well and I think it’ll dramatically improve some of my sites.

I’m also looking forward to what effect SEO urls will have on my sites.

  3. @garmin, yeah, i thought i noticed that the images are not clickable, wonder what the deal is with that. would rather have the whole thing clickable as well..

  4. Its easy enough to make the images clickable if you prefer that.

The output is determined by template files which you will find in /wp-content/plugins/phpBay/templates folder.

The file names are self explanatory.

Look for the section of html code that displays the image. In the default template.ebay.results.html file it is

    Change it to

    Upload your edited file.

Your images will now be clickable.

  5. hmmmmm … well that blows … the code snippets don’t seem to show.

Anyone knows how to make code display in these posts then let me know and and i’ll repost.

  6. @Cable Guy. Did you try wrapping your code in “

”

Also, that was a great tip. I’ll just post it on the blog today for everyone to see at a high level. thanks!
